As childminders we are required by law to follow the EYFS as guidance for children in our care who are applicable.  Children applicable are those from birth to August 31st after their 5th birthday.
We aim to plan our sessions in accordance with the EYFS focus on learning through play.


Rooms

We use 3 rooms predominantly in our house for childminding.      

• The dining room which is mostly used for singing and dancing,art, reading and eating. 
  
• The living room which is more of a quiet area for activities such homework, watching TV, reading and quiet play.
• We use a bedroom for sleep and rest where there will be a cot and sleep mats.

We have a lovely child friendly garden, turfed with patio and apple tree. 
In addition to this we are surrounded by the beautiful setting of Bestwood Country Park.
 
Bestwood Country Park offers 650 acres of open green space and varying wildlife habitats to explore. Our children will have many opportunities to experience the flora and fauna the park as to offer both play and fun/educational. 



Planning
All children will individually have an observation, after this they will have an individual planning sheet written each week. The planning sheet will reflect each child's individual learning needs.

Stages
0-3
A strong emphasis will be put on play including: messy play, play dough, paints, sand pit and water to name but a few.
Opportunities to play outside in the garden or in the country park.Discovering things in the woods such as different flora and fauna, seasonal differences, colours and textures etc....
Imagination through stories.
3-8
Again with an emphasis on play and planned around individual interests and stages. 
Healthy eating, where does our food come from? how is it made? Growing our own food, Exploring different countries, cultures and religions etc...
Creative play, singing,dancing,plays,art and music.
